Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold,to obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed than the fat of rams

Father, you are the God of order, ordaining authorities in governments and in the church for the purpose of harmony and justice. Thank you for the leaders who serve you faithfully in every place in this nation, whether government, the workplace or the church.

Today, we pray for a spirit of obedience to reign across this nation, with a recognition in the life of every leader that you are much more interested in honesty from the heart than a display of outward offerings. May we put aside our own desires and yield them to you, no matter what we face in life. May we choose to follow you, to desire intimate fellowship with you above all else the world can offer.

Grant each of us a spirit of sacrifice and service. Grant our leaders a willingness to surrender their will to you. Help us to exchange rebellion and stubbornness for a willing and obedient heart. In all things, in all places and in all ways, may you be glorified today. Amen.
