Father, we come before you today declaring our desire to please you rather than those around us. Forgive us for the sin of self-interest and loving the approval and praise of others more than the glory that comes from honoring and following you.

In these crucial days in our nation, may we as your children run after your heart so that what we say and do is based on your eternal truth and covered by your love, mercy and grace. May we be people who live by your Word and who stand for righteousness regardless of the cost. May we be bold in our stand for you, but may we act and speak in ways that draw others to you and your truth. You have sent us into the world to be salt and light. We declare our allegiance to you and our desire to please you more than anyone. In Jesus’ name – Amen.
