He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will be destroyed

Lord, we know that a leader is only as good as his or her counselors. Today, we pray that you will raise up wise counselors to surround those who lead our land. Lord, we are continually tempted to surround ourselves with people who agree with and affirm us, but we pray you will give our leaders the wisdom to esteem the advice of an honest and wise counselor. Raise up such counselors and give them favor with government leaders. May you provide guidance to those who have the ear of our leaders. May you embolden those in influential positions to speak the truth, no matter how unpopular and to always pursue the welfare of the nation above the advancing of their personal career. Lord, even as you expose fools for what they are, may you exalt those who communicate the wisdom of God. May you bless those who uphold righteousness and may you cause them to prosper. We seek your face today in Jesus’ name – Amen.
