Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! Serve the Lord with gladness; come before His presence with singing! Know that the Lord, He is God; it is He who has made us, and now we ourselves; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him and bless His name. For the Lord is good, His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations.

Psalm 100

O God, during the week of our national celebration of thanksgiving, may we hear again the words of this Psalm and re-set the priorities of our lives and nation toward you. You alone provided the vision, the inspiration, the direction and the courage for the founding of this land and the birth of this nation. Yet, we have turned our attention away from you as our founder and provider and trusted in our thinking, our ingenuity and our strength. Forgive us today, Father, for the hollow ring of Thanksgiving Day and restore us to a place of humility, gratitude and genuine thankfulness for your provision and blessing across the past 200+ years.

You are good, O Lord, and your mercy is everlasting, your truth endures to all generations. Let us be thankful today and bless your name. For we are above all else your people and the sheep of your pasture – this is your land and we exist at your good pleasure and by your great mercies. So, we come to you with thanksgiving and praise, asking you to restore first in your children, and then across this land, the knowledge of the source of our blessings and a willingness to stand without reservation or shame and proclaim the praises of the Lord God. We come with thankfulness in Jesus’ name – Amen
