For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Father, as we look toward the celebration of Christmas, help us to remember that we celebrate the birth of your Son. Forgive us when we are so immersed in the parties and gifts that we forget the what and why of the season. These are days of global turmoil and we long for the day when a Wonderful counselor will rule over the nations. We long for the government to be placed upon the shoulders of one who is Mighty God and Everlasting Father. We recall that long ago the angels sang about peace on earth. We long and pray for the one who is the Prince of Peace to sit upon the throne. Father, we are reminded that many around the world have yet to hear of this Wonderful Counselor and Mighty God. Help us to give and go that they may know. Give us a heart to honor you in these days. In the name of Jesus, who is the Son of God – Amen.
