And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 1:14

Father, as we approach the celebration of the coming of your Son into the world, we rejoice at the magnitude of your love – that you would send Jesus to us in the middle of our sin and darkness, to rescue us from eternal separation from you and eternal darkness for our lives. We can know your heart and mind because we know Jesus. He is Emmanuel, God with us.

Forgive us for building so many things around the celebration of Jesus’ birth that have distracted us from our focus on your awesome act of grace and love. May we stop just like Mary and treasure all you have done and hold it in our hearts and minds each day. Let us declare your truth to our families and friends during this season of Christmas.

Jesus, you are the way, the truth and the life. You are the only way to the Father and to eternal life. You are the only one who is able to help us deal with all the challenges of life.

We humble ourselves before you today, Lord Jesus, and ask you to make your home in our hearts this Christmas and lead us to honor and worship you in every area of our lives.

We pray this in your name, Lord Jesus – Amen.
