He who walks with integrity walks securely, but he who perverts his ways will become known.

Holy God, as we come before you today, we acknowledge that we exist at your pleasure. This is your day, your world, and we are your children. We also acknowledge that all governments are under your authority. Today, we pray for the government of this nation as we approach a change in leadership.

We pray that the leaders of our land would be characterized by a heart that seeks to know your heart and a mind that seeks to be taught by what is on your mind. May you create within the hearts of our leaders a sense of shame for sin, a willingness to confess their sin before you and a desire to pursue righteousness in all things and in all ways.

Lord, as painful and heart wrenching as it may be, may you expose and weed out from leadership those who refuse to embrace integrity. May you shine your holy light upon them so they lose their place of influence in our nation. For we acknowledge that, as go the leaders, so go the people. We seek all this in your Holy Name – Amen.
